Walk or run for Carousel Fund

<p>Local residents will have the opportunity to get some exercise for a good cause by participating in Athletic Soles’ Carousel Fund Run on Sunday, Sept. 27.</p><!-- Nothing to do. The paragraph has already been output --><p>By YOVANNA BIEBERICH</p><p>ARGUS-COURIER STAFF</p><p>Local residents will have the opportunity to get some exercise for a good cause by participating in Athletic Soles’ Carousel Fund Run on Sunday, Sept. 27.</p><p>The 5k and 10k walk or run begins at 8:30 a.m. at Shollenberger Park and will raise money for Petaluma-based Carousel Fund, a non-profit organization that provides financial help to families struggling to care for their seriously ill children.</p><p>“The Carousel Fund has raised more than $5 million for local families with children who suffer from catastrophic illness,” said Holly Wick, run organizer and owner of the downtown shop, Athletic Soles. “This grass roots all-volunteer organization is an inspiration for us all.”</p><p>The race is open to all ages and starts at the Ellis Creek entrance to Shollenberger Park, with the 5k run/walk fully contained in that area. The 10k run will go around both parts of the park.</p><p>Medals for the 10k run will be awarded to the top three finishing males and females. Ribbons will be awarded to top finishers in the different age categories. Medals will also be awarded to the top three males and females finishing the 5k run.</p><p>For those who haven’t participated in a walk/run before, Athletic Soles is offering some assistance. Every Wednesday night until the event, Athletic Soles is providing free training at Shollenberger Park to anyone who wants to participate in the Carousel Fund Run.</p><p>Carousel Fund Run registration in advance is $10 per person, $25 per family. Registration on the day of the event is $15 per person, $35 per family.
