A naked man ran up and down Lemur Street in west Santa Rosa, breaking into homes Saturday night before being chased back into his own house by a group of teenagers wielding a baseball bat.
The action began shortly before 9 p.m. when Patti Strika and a few friends were in front of her house and spotted a man running south on Lemur Street.
“All of sudden this guy comes running and we thought he was just jogging and he went under the (street) light and we saw a full moon,” Strika said. “We went in and told our husbands, ‘There's a naked guy on Lemur Street.'”
The man soon started entering homes in the neighborhood. When he ran into 18-year-old Tony Bagala's garage, Bagala and a group of friends chased him down the street.
“He tried to give me a hug,” said Miguel Gonzalez, 18, still holding the baseball bat with which he gave chase.
Pursued by the teens, the man jumped over the back fence of Carlos Reyes' house, opened the sliding glass door and ran into his kitchen.
“He was completely naked,” Reyes said. “I could tell he was all freaked out.”
After struggling to open Reyes' front door, he ran finally got out and was eventually chased back into his home, Gonzalez said.
A woman in the home, who was also naked, began yelling at the teens, and police soon arrived, Gonzalez said.
Both the man and the woman were taken by ambulance to a hospital for medical evaluation, police said. It was unclear if they would be charged with a crime.
