Horizon Air carried 15,805 passengers to or from Santa Rosa in September, down 4 percent from the same month last year.
Horizon flights averaged 73 percent full last month, compared to 76 percent a year ago, according to officials at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport.
The Seattle-based carrier operates five flights a day from Santa Rosa to Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and Las Vegas.
System-wide, Horizon’s passenger count was down 5 percent in September as the recession continued to drag on business and leisure travel. The carrier has cut capacity — the number of seats for sale — by about 3 percent in response to the downturn.
Horizon, part of Alaska Air Group, serves 47 cities in the western United States, Canada and Mexico.
