It's the last weekend day before Halloween and you're coming down to the wire.
Your kids are still clamoring to visit a haunted house and you don't remember where you left the list. You bought pumpkins for jack-o'-lanterns, but realize you need more for the front porch. The supermarket supply looks frighteningly low.
What about costumes? You thought you could get away with putting the wee one into the same bumblebee costume she wore last year, but she's having none of it. Your teens are looking more goth mashup than dramatic or creative. And you and your partner are determined to win the best-costume award at the huge Halloween night party your friends are throwing later, across town. What to be?
Fear not.
It will be a busy week in Wine Country as kids and grown-ups prepare for a rare Saturday Halloween. But these lists of resources -- costume shops, haunted houses, pumpkin patches -- will give you a hand. As for the ornery bumblebee? We've included some ideas for easy and effective costumes that youngsters will love.
Come Saturday night, the moon will be in position, the spiders will be crawly, the ghostly floorboards will creak and ghouls will rise from the grave. And here's a bonus: You'll get an extra hour of fun as the clocks return that night to Pacific Standard Time.
