Two Santa Rosa residents who got an early start on Halloween revelry Saturday night suffered moderate injuries when they were struck by a passing car after inexplicably walking into the northbound lane of Stony Point Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle did not stop after striking Jessica Fonseca, 20, and Michael Lanter, 22, who were attending a Halloween party near Todd Road and Stony Point Road.

Fonseca and Lanter were taken by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Police are searching for the driver in connection with the apparent hit and run. The vehicle was described to police as a burgundy Chevrolet pickup with a bug guard and long bed, and manufactured between the years of 1987 and 1992. Anyone with information is asked to call the CHP at 588-1400.

CHP officer Kimberly Lemons urged party-goers and children collecting candy to wear bright-colored clothes and carry a flashlight.
