A Sonoma County judge Tuesday lifted an arrest warrant for a Rohnert Park man accused of driving under the influence drugs in a crash that killed his mother because the man was too injured to appear in court.
Judge Elliot Daum said Ryan Crowder, 22, could recuperate at home under supervision. He set the next hearing date for Nov. 6.
Crowder is accused of driving under the influence of methamphetamine and cocaine in the Sept. 10 crash on Stony Point Road. The CHP said he veered into an oncoming van and crashed into an embankment.
Alma Crowder, 42, died from her injuries. Ryan Crowder's brother, Jesse, 24, suffered several broken bones.
Ryan Crowder sustained a fractured leg, pelvis and ribs, as well as a lacerated liver and other internal injuries.
A Santa Rosa woman driving the other minivan, Donna Brockwell, and her 5-year-old grandson suffered minor injuries in the crash, the CHP said.
Daum expected Crowder to appear next month for arraignment or provide a doctor's note explaining why he couldn't be there.
