Leland Alvin Petersen died on Oct. 22, 2009. He was 88.
A Petaluma native, Mr. Petersen grew up on a poultry ranch that was one of many that made Petaluma famous as the “World’s Egg Basket.” He enlisted in the Army during World War II and was in the Engineer Corp in Italy.
He is survived by his children, Daniel Petersen and Terri Tessier; sibling, Elrose Frese; grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Marie Kimberk Petersen; son, Edward Petersen; and siblings, George Petersen, Ida Otterson, Lillian Petersen and Walter Petersen.
As per his request, there will not be a service. Memorial contributions may be made to Sutter VNA & Hospice, 1110 N. Dutton, Santa Rosa 95401-4606 or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Northern California, 150 Grand Ave., Oakland 94612.
