Tomales High’s Braves won their fourth straight North Central League II football championship Saturday.

The Braves rallied in the second half to defeat Point Arena, 34-19.

In the four-year championship run, Tomales has not lost a league game.

Both streaks were difficult to maintain Saturday at Point Arena, where the homestanding Pirates led at halftime, 19-14.

Tomales took charge in the second half.

“Our offensive line did a really good job,” said Tomales coach Leon Feliciano.

Running behind that line, senior Stan Moody carried 33 times for 249 yards. “Most of those yards were five to 10 yards at a time,” noted Feliciano.

Moody also scored four of the Brave touchdowns, finding the end zone from 2, 5, 4 and 4 yards out. The other Brave touchdown came on a 45-yard pass from quarterback Javy Isais to fullback Richie Douglass.

Feliciano said Tomales received a big boost in the second half by the return to the lineup of two-way lineman Andrew Murphy. Murphy had been sidelined with an ankle injury, and Tomales was trying to rest him as a precaution.

“But we needed him,” explained the coach. “He was a difference maker.”

The win was the 99th for Feliciano at Tomales. He is in his 13th year of coaching the Braves.
