An unidentified man was critically injured when his stalled car was struck on Highway 101 in Petaluma early Friday, causing him to be ejected from the driver’s side window, the CHP said.

Authorities are seeking help from the public to identify him, as he did not have any identification with him, the CHP said.

Investigators also are looking for any witnesses to the crash.

The injured man already had been involved in a less serious collision that caused him to spin out of control and stall across two southbound lanes of Highway 101 north of East Washington Avenue shortly after midnight.

It was a third car, a 2001 Ford Escape, that, unable to stop in time, struck him broadside, spinning his 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo into the center median, authorities said.

The man was ejected and suffered life-threatening injuries, CHP Officer Jon Sloat. He was taken to Santa rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Ford Escape driver, Christina Creedon, 19, of Petaluma, suffered minor injuries, including pain in her back and neck, the CHP said. She was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the initial accident occurred at three minutes after midnight Thursday, when the Monte Carlo and another southbound vehicle sideswiped each other, sending the Monte Carlo into a spin.

The driver of the other vehicle, Terri Wong, 29, of Campbell, was not injured, authorities said.

Anyone with information about the accident or the unidentified Latino man who was injured is asked to call CHP Officer Tim Snyder at (707) 588-1400, ext. 362.
