Petaluma gets No. 1 seed

Trojans get first-round bye in Div. II bracket; SCL rival Analy is Div. III's No. 2 seed

The Analy girls’ volleyball team won the Sonoma County League title this year, but it was second-place Petaluma that got a No.1 seed in the North Coast Section championships, which begin Wednesday.

In brackets released Sunday, the Trojans (23-8) secured the top spot in Div.II. The Tigers (28-6) couldn’t shake 25-2 Miramonte out of the No.1 seed in Div.III, though they did get the No. 2 and a first-round bye.

Joining Petaluma and Analy with byes were NCLII South champion Rincon Valley Christian (27-5) and NCLII North winner Anderson Valley (23-3), the 1 and 2 seeds in Div.VI.

Two-time defending Div.II champion Maria Carrillo drew the No. 5 seed after winning the North Bay League and finishing 24-11, while defending Div.VI champ Mendocino (12-11) got the No.7 seed.
