Eureka man arrested after gun, drug find

<p>A gang member remained in custody Monday in Sonoma County Jail after Petaluma police reported finding him with a loaded handgun, ammunition and marijuana, police reported.</p><p>Royce Justin Moorehead, 19, of Eureka was in a car parked at the back of a northern Petaluma restaurant parking lot at about midnight Saturday night. A patrolling officer contacted him and another man in the car, Sgt. Marty Frye reported.</p><p>Officers searched the car and found the gun tucked under the front seat of the car. Its serial number had been removed, Frye said. </p><p>The search also turned up gang paraphernalia, a box of ammunition and the marijuana, found near the gun.</p><p>Officers arrested Moorehead on suspicion of possessing a loaded firearm and possessing a firearm with the serial numbers removed. </p><p>The passenger, identified as Juan Quintero, was cited on suspicion of possessing marijuana. He was released at the parking lot.</p><p>Moorehead’s bail was set at $10,000. He also was identified as a known gang member.</p><p>An age or town of residence wasn’t given by police for Quintero.</p>
