Police got more than they bargained for when they arrived at a northwest Santa Rosa apartment complex Wednesday to serve a search warrant and wound up breaking up a drug deal.
The target of the search warrants was Marayamah Smith, 39, who resides at the Pioneer 2000 apartment complex on Pioneer Way, according to police.
When narcotics detectives arrived at the complex Wednesday morning to serve the warrant, they witnessed Smith allegedly selling methamphetamine to three people in the parking lot.
Police said Smith had the drug in his possession, as well as a loaded and concealed handgun and cash. In his apartment detectives found additional drugs, ammunition and money.
Smith was arrested on suspicion of a variety of drug and weapons charges. Police said he is a convicted felon and that there was a warrant out for his arrest.
Three other Santa Rosa residents were allegedly involved in the incident.
Troy Moore, 25, was arrested for parole violations and loitering with the intent to engage in narcotic activity.
Elizabeth Smith, 30, and Nick Ruiz, 33, were cited for loitering with intent to engage in narcotics activity and released.
