Petaluma police are investigating a stabbing outside of an eastside supermarket late Sunday night.

Officers were called to the Safeway on South McDowell Boulevard at about 10:05 p.m. about a woman with a knife chasing a man in the parking lot, reported Ryan DeBaeke, acting sergeant.

When officers arrived, they were told the two people involved were gone.

But by 10:15 p.m., officers found a man in the area with a stab wound to one forearm, DeBaeke reported.

He told officers he was stabbed by a woman as he walked out of the grocery store.

The man, who wasn’t identified, was treated for his injuries and released.

DeBaeke asked anyone with information on the crime to contact him at 781-1244.
