A man who died while diving Sunday off the Sonoma coast was identified Monday as Brian Dinday, 62, of San Rafael.

The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office released Dinday’s identity Monday morning, saying next of kin had been notified.

Dinday was diving at Salt Point State Park when reports came in of a person seen floating face down in the water near Horseshoe Cove.

The Sonoma County sheriff’s helicopter crew flew in after getting the call and pulled him from the water to a nearby bluff. He was pronounced dead at 1:08 p.m.
