A Windsor man remained hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition following a serious beating at a Santa Rosa gas station by as many as five people, reported Santa Rosa police.

Detectives Monday searched the home of a suspect in the case and found evidence further linking Robert Upshall, 22, of Santa Rosa to the crime, Sgt. Steve Fraga reported.

Officers arrested Upshall following the violence early Thursday on suspicion of battery with serious injury. He was taken to jail and has since been released on bail.

Victim Cory Debari, 24, was taken to an area hospital and remained there with serious injuries, Fraga said.

Officers found Debari unconscious on the ground at a Chevron station on Mendocino Avenue at about 2:40 a.m. Thursday. They’d been called to the gas station by witnesses who reported the victim got into a fight with several people who continued to assault him as he lay unconscious.

Two people seen running from the area were detained and one, Upshall, was arrested.

Fraga didn’t release details on what was found at Upshall’s home.

He asked anyone with information about the assault or anyone involved in it to contact detectives at 543-3590.
