A Point Arena man was in custody after Mendocino County sheriff’s deputies found him carrying four guns, a knife and possessing a large bag of marijuana, sheriff’s officials reported.

Trevor Stratton, 27, was in a parked car outside of a Point Arena bar when a deputy working in the area contacted him and smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Sgt. Joseph Comer reported. The deputy also saw the barrel of a gun in the car.

Stratton was told repeatedly to get out of the car and didn’t, Comer said. Deputies then forcibly removed him and as they did, said he reached for a weapon he was carrying.

After his arrest, he threatened deputies with violence, Comer said. The deputies found him with the four guns, a concealed fixed knife carried in his clothes and about 155 grams of marijuana.

He was arrested Saturday at about 9:30 p.m. on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale, possessing a dangerous weapon, being armed with a gun while committing a felony, making threats and resisting an officer.

Stratton was taken to Mendocino County Jail and held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
