A Canadian cold front is expected to bring the season’s chilliest weather — and possibly the first snowfall — to the North Bay and Bay Area from Sunday night through Monday, forecasters said.

Temperatures in the mid-40s to mid-50s — with 48 degrees forecast for Santa Rosa — are 10 to 15 degrees below normal for this time of year, AccuWeather said.

Showers may develop by Sunday night, along with freezing temperatures, possibly bringing snow down to 1,000 feet elevation in the North Bay by Monday morning, the National Weather Service said.

One to two inches of snow could accumulate above 1,500 foot, the service said. At lower elevations, cold rain is expected.

On Monday night, the mercury is expected to drop to 25, Accuweather said. A freeze watch is in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday morning, the weather service said.

Cold weather and possibly rain will continue through Thursday, forecasters said.
