After a sheriff’s pursuit and crash early Tuesday a young Redwood Valley man suspected of driving drunk was arrested — his third such arrest in two years, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department.

Evan Trotter, 22, was being treated for injuries Tuesday morning and was expected to be released and booked into Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of driving intoxicated, said Sgt. Dan Edwards.

At about 2:30 a.m. near Redwood Valley, a Cal Trans crew on ice patrol spotted a suspected drunken driver and contacted law enforcement.

Deputies attempted to pull over the driver, who instead lead a 14-mile pursuit in two loops around the valley before he crashed into a tree, Edwards said.

Trotter was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk, evading arrest, driving with a suspended license for a prior drunken driving conviction and driving without an ignition lock on his car due to a prior drunken driving case.
