A Willits child was being treated at Oakland Children’s Hospital with major head injuries after a car the unrestrained boy travelled in flipped four times, reported the CHP.
As well as the unbelted 11-year-old, a one-year-old Willits boy in the wrecked SUV wasn’t in a child safety seat, the CHP reported. That little boy had minor injuries.
Driver Linda Walker, 20, of Willits was heading south on Sherwood Road Sunday, about 12 miles west of Highway 101 near Willits. She lost control of her 1999 Mitsubishi Montero and it rolled four times.
The SUV had six people inside, including Walker and the two children.
Passenger Asia Schwantes, 18, of Green Bay, Wis. had moderate injuries. Cody Ferron, 20, of Algoma, Wis. and Walker had minor injuries. Another passenger, Kurt Viles, 19, of Algoma, Wis. wasn’t injured.
The adults all were belted at the time of the crash.
The injured boy was flown by medical helicopter to the Oakland hospital. Others were taken by ambulance to Howard Hospital in Willits.
The CHP didn’t release names of the two children.
