Two Sebastopol teens were in custody Wednesday, suspected of attempted murder for firing a shotgun into a group of teens and young adults at Ives Park Tuesday afternoon.
The two were arrested early Wednesday following an investigation by Sebastopol police, Sgt. Mike Nielsen said.
One 23-year-old Sebastopol man had minor injuries from multiple wounds to an arm and torso from the shotgun pellets.
In custody were Alexander Protassieff, 18, and a 17-year-old teen.
Police Wednesday continued to investigate, including whether the shooting was gang motivated.
The shooting occurred at about 3:20 p.m. at Ives Park, on the west side of downtown Sebastopol.
The shooters drove into the parking lot of the Sebastopol Veterans Memorial Building, adjacent to the park, and a shot was fired toward parked cars and a group of teens and young adults hanging out on the grass, Nielsen said.
People scattered and police were called.
Information led officers to the home of Protassieff at about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday and just before 5 a.m., they arrested the juvenile at his home.
Officers also located a 2006 Scion believed to have been driven by the shooters.
Nielsen asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact officers at 829-4400.
