Memorial service set for former Santa Rosa Fire Chief Tony Pini

<p>A memorial service for former Santa Rosa Fire Chief Tony Pini will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 19 at the Santa Rosa Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel.</p><p>Members of the Santa Rosa Fire Department will be present to honor Pini, who died Tuesday of cancer. He was 62.</p><p>Pini was a career firefighter who served as Santa Rosa's chief from 1985 to 2003. Before he came to Santa Rosa, he was the fire chief in Santa Cruz.</p><p>He started his career at the South San Francisco Fire Department, where he was instrumental in creating one of Northern California's first fire-paramedic programs.</p><p>In lieu of flowers, Pini's family suggests memorial contributions to Children's Hospital of Oakland, 2201 Broadway, Suite 600, Oakland 94612, or www.chofoundation.org.</p>
