The mercury dropped to at least 29 degrees at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport early Wednesday morning, making it the third coldest night of the winter so far, the National Weather Service said.

Temperatures may have dropped slightly lower at individual sites around Sonoma County, but it’s unlikely any dropped to 23 degrees, the low on both Dec. 8 and Dec. 9 in Santa Rosa.

National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Tettinger said the next several nights would still be quite chilly but that temperatures should hover just above freezing.

The low for Wednesday night into Thursday morning was expected to be 33 degrees, with 34 expected Christmas Eve and 37 on Christmas night.

High, day-time temperatures should remain in the upper 50s, with some clouds moving in Friday and Saturday, he said.

There’s about a 30 percent chance of rain Saturday night, and a 50 percent chance of rain Sunday, Tettinger said.
