The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday will stretch over two days in Santa Rosa with a variety of activities.

On Sunday, a celebration at the Wells Fargo Center will open with the showing of civil rights films from 5 to 6 p.m.

The main program from 6 to 8 p.m. will feature singing by the Celebration Mass Choir from Community Baptist Church; speeches by the middle school and high school winners of the MLK Oratory Contest; a display of children’s art; and a special children’s program.

Carole Ellis and the Rev. James Coffee, co-creators of the event, will be present for a dialogue on the past, present and future of efforts to promote justice and equality.

There is no charge, but donations will be accepted.

On Monday, “A Day On, Not a Day Off,” will be held at Community Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. , with a closing from 3 to 4.

There will be a health fair, civil rights films, discussions and information on a variety of topics to bolster a healthy and harmonious community.
