A police chase and manhunt in west Sonoma County on Sunday afternoon resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old girl and the continued search for two males who allegedly fled the vehicle, according to the CHP.

The pursuit began on Highway 116 near Vine Hill Road west of Sebastopol after CHP Officer David Friese witnessed a male driver talking on his phone while driving. After Friese turned on his sirens, the driver turned down Vine Hill Road, then took a left at Green Valley Road, disregarding stop signs at Highway 116 and Ross Road, according to the CHP.

Friese pursued the vehicle until it apparently ran out of gas on Harrison Grade Road west of Graton and the driver crashed into the bushes at a slow speed in order to flee, he said. The driver and female passenger fled the vehicle. The male passenger had already fled after the vehicle made a brief stop at an earlier point, Friese said.

Officers established a perimeter and brought in a CHP reconnaissance airplane and a Sonoma County Sheriff's helicopter.

The female, whose name was not disclosed Sunday night, was found near Green Valley Road and Thomas Road about an hour and a half later. She was arrested and booked into juvenile hall, Friese said.

The other two suspects had not been located as of 10 p.m. Sunday night, he said. The vehicle was not stolen, the suspects apparently had permission to drive it, he said.

The CHP declined to release their names or descriptions.
