Horizon ridership rises in January

Horizon Air carried 12,161 passengers to and from Santa Rosa in January, up 3 percent from the same month last year, according to Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport.

Horizon's Santa Rosa flights were 60 percent full last month, up from 54 percent a year ago.

Seattle-based Horizon operates five flights a day from Santa Rosa to Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and Las Vegas.

It carried just over 186,000 passengers to or from Santa Rosa last year, down from almost 205,000 in 2008, according to airport officials.

Horizon, part of Alaska Air Group, serves 45 cities in the western United States, British Columbia and Mexico.

System-wide, Horizon's passenger count was up 4.3 percent in January. Its flights were 69 percent full and 86.5 percent of them arrived on time, according to the carrier.
