A hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 Sunday evening led to an arrest of a Northern California man after a CHP officer spotted a damaged car weaving on a nearby road, reported the CHP Monday morning.
Officers were called to southbound Highway 101 near Fulton Road at about 6 p.m. Sunday. They found driver Sandra Beddow, 57, of Healdsburg whose car had been struck from behind as she was driving about 55 mph, Officer Jon Sloat reported. She wasn't injured.
The driver of the car that hit her didn't stop, she told officers. An officer heading to the crash spotted a 1997 Pontiac weaving as it headed west on River Road. The car also had what appeared to be collision damage, so the officer pulled the driver over.
Damon A. Frick, 41, of Klamath was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and hit and run in connection with the highway crash. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail and remained there Monday morning in lieu of $5,000 bail.
