The Sonoma County Tourism Bureau released an iPhone application on Tuesday to help people find wineries, hotels, restaurants, nightlife and other area events.
The application, iVisit Sonoma County, is a free download available at Apple’s iTunes store.
It provides contact information and addresses to hundreds of Sonoma County merchants. Users can search wineries by the types of wine they produce. The application is also designed to provide specific details for special events, such as the annual barrel tasting weekend in March.
For restaurants and bars, the listings are sorted alphabetically and by nearest proximity to the user.
The Tourism Bureau plans to develop applications for other mobile operating systems such as Google’s Android. At the same time, it also plans to continue updating the iPhone application.
