'Person of interest' in Lake County homicides charged with other offenses

<p>A “person of interest” in the suspected double homicide of a Maine couple was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Lake County Superior Court on marijuana cultivation charges.</p><p>Robby Alan Beasley, 29, was charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession for sale of marijuana and maintaining a place for drug sales, according to the Lake County District Attorney's Office.</p><p>Beasley, who did not enter a plea, is being held on $1 million bail.</p><p>Lake County Sheriff's authorities found 96 marijuana plants at one of Beasley's two Lake County residences while serving a fugitive warrant issued in Maine, where he, like the victims, formerly resided. The warrant was issued for a probation violation related to criminal threats and assault charges, law officials said.</p><p>Booking records list Beasley's occupation as painter.</p><p>The deceased couple, Frank and Yvette Maddox, 32 and 40, came to Clearlake several months ago to work in Beasley's marijuana cultivation operation, said Lake County Sheriff's Capt. James Bauman.</p><p>They disappeared in late January after agreeing to give Beasley a ride to the Sacramento airport, he said.</p><p>Their bodies were found last week along Morgan Valley Road about six miles east of Lower Lake. Two Sonoma County men spotted the corpses when they stopped to take a break from driving.</p><p>Autopsies was being performed Wednesday at the Napa County Coroner's Office, Bauman said. He does not expect the results to be released until Thursday.</p><p>Authorities are searching for the dead couple's vehicle, a 1982 Toyota pickup, he said. It was either tan, beige or pale yellow with a black camper shell, Bauman said.</p>
