Putting one shoe ahead of the other feels awfully good to Janine Faloni, the Windsor woman and mother of two who lost her left leg below the knee following a parking-lot accident last November.

She's gotten used to a manufactured leg with the help of the people at Hanger Prosthetics, the same firm that built a high-tech leg for fellow Windsor resident Cassi Moore after she lost a leg to flesh-killing bacteria.

Janine, 37, is back to driving her kids to school and baseball games and such and she's getting the hang of walking without a cane.

“It's back to that busy lifestyle that I love,” she said.

Janine wouldn't pretend that her life's been at all easy since an elderly driver accidentally hit the gas and ran into her five months ago. But she's doing what people really should do when they walk.

“I just keep looking forward,” she said.
