A planning meeting for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Russian outpost at Fort Ross will be held by a parks steering committee in Santa Rosa Wednesday.

The California State Parks committee is looking for volunteers to serve on its 21 different committees.

The Russians arrived on the North Coast in 1812 and established the trading post and colony, which they occupied for three decades.

The site is now a state historic park.

The Fort Ross 2012 Steering Committee will hold a public forum to discuss the celebration goals, special events, committees and fundraising activities. The celebration will last for a year.

The meeting is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sonoma County Library in Santa Rosa.
