Help needed to celebrate 200th anniversary of Fort Ross

<p>A planning meeting for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Russian outpost at Fort Ross will be held by a parks steering committee in Santa Rosa Wednesday.</p><p>The California State Parks committee is looking for volunteers to serve on its 21 different committees.</p><p>The Russians arrived on the North Coast in 1812 and established the trading post and colony, which they occupied for three decades.</p><p>The site is now a state historic park.</p><p>The Fort Ross 2012 Steering Committee will hold a public forum to discuss the celebration goals, special events, committees and fundraising activities. The celebration will last for a year.</p><p>The meeting is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sonoma County Library in Santa Rosa.</p><p>— Bob Norberg</p>
