Horse collapses, dies at weekend polo tournament in Santa Rosa

  • The Wounded Warriors Polo Benefit held at Trione Polo Field in Oakmont, June 20, 2010. (PD FILE)

Two questions lingered after Sunday's rousing polo match at Oakmont/White Oak that raised money for wounded war veterans.

No, the horse that collapsed did not survive. The 14-year-old horse went into cardiac arrhythmia and the team of equine medical specialists that rushed to him could not bring him around.

And yes, the Wounded Warrior benefit was successful, raising about $50,000 for agencies that serve vets who came home injured or disabled.
