A kitchen fire caused about $10,000 in damage to a Petaluma home Sunday evening.
The fire, reported about 6:22 p.m. at a two-story house in the 1200 block of Kresky Way, was caused by a pot left on a stove top, according to a Petaluma fire department official.
Flames crept up a wall in the kitchen and caused smoke damage throughout the house. One of home's occupants used a garden house to on the fire before firefighters arrived and put it out.
Another occupant, a woman, burned a hand when she tried to remove the pot from the stove, the fire official said.
She did not require treatment at the scene or need assistance getting to a hospital, the fire official said.
