A Woodside woman died and two Berkeley residents suffered major injuries in a head-on collision in Mendocino County Sunday evening.
Patricia Woodrow, 59, died while being flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after the 5:34 p.m. Fourth of July crash, the CHP said.
She was driving south on Highway 101, north of Willits, when she crossed into oncoming traffic and into the path of a Toyota truck.
After the two vehicles stopped, they were blocking both lanes of the highway. Firefighters had to free Woodrow from her crushed car.
Pickup driver Paul Webb, 58, and passenger Monica Winu, also of Berkeley both had major injuries.
She was taken by helicopter to Memorial Hospital and Webb was taken by ambulance to Howard Hospital in Willits.
CHP officers are investigating with the alcohol or drugs were a factor.
