Three Cloverdale women remained hospitalized Monday after suffering serious injuries in a crash with a drunken driving suspect that also killed two of their friends.
The CHP Monday identified the Cloverdale women killed as Nancy McBride and Beverly Jones, both 77.
The driver of the other car, Lyndsay Murray Mazany, 27, of San Francisco had been wine tasting in the region with friends prior to the crash, the CHP said.
On Monday, Mazany remained in Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail on suspicion of manslaughter and drunken driving. The two vehicles collided at about 5:30 p.m. on Geyserville Avenue.
Mazany's southbound 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV was moving at about 45 mph when it crossed the center line on a tight curve near Banti Lane, the CHP said.
Katherine Hinzman, 56, was driving the group of Cloverdale friends in a 2001 Subaru Forester.
The Hyundai hit the Subaru broadside in the left rear passenger side. The women who died were sitting in the back seat and died on impact, the CHP said.
Hinzman suffered moderate injuries and Monday was in fair condition.
Barbara King, 70, had major injuries and was listed in serious condition and Alice Sheperla, 82, was in fair condition.
The five friends had been to Santa Rosa to see a play at Santa Rosa Junior College, the CHP said. They were on their way into Geyserville for dinner and apparently had just exited the Highway 101 freeway when the collision occurred.
Neither Mazany nor the three people with her were injured. She was travelling with her boyfriend, his father and another male friend, the CHP said.
She was due in court Tuesday afternoon to be arraigned on manslaughter and drunken driving charges.
