A Cloverdale man driving in Lake County Sunday afternoon drifted his motor home into oncoming traffic, causing a fatal crash, the CHP reported.
Chico resident Marina Bajczi, 22, died in the Highway 20 crash.
At about 1:30 p.m., driver Ernie Hunt, 73, was headed west on the highway near Clear Lake when his motor home crossed double yellow lines and hit the front of Bajczi's 2005 Chevy Equinox, the CHP said.
The motor home then careened into Claude Speegle's 2009 Chevy Pickup, causing a second crash.
After hitting the pickup truck, the motor home then ran off the road, down an embankment and caught fire, the CHP said.
The crashes sparked small brush fires on both sides of the highway.
Hunt was flown to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries including burns to one-fifth of his body.
Speegle, 57, of Winters suffered minor injuries.
Passenger Ruben Masso, 30, of Chico was riding with Bajczi. He also suffered major injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
