A Guerneville man who was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving was cited earlier in the day for not properly restraining his 7-year-old daughter, who was in the car when her father was pulled over for a second time that day, the CHP said Thursday.
Thierry Peterson, 47, was behind the wheel of a 1997 Sebring that was seen speeding and tailgating other vehicles at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 116 near Guerneville, the CHP said.
CHP Officer Layne LeBaron happened to be behind the Sebring when the car pulled out in front of the officer's cruiser and sped off.
After stopping the Sebring, LeBaron arrested Peterson after the Guerneville man failed a field sobriety test, the CHP said.
The CHP said Peterson's daughter was wearing a seat belt when her father was pulled over for the second time that day.
Peterson was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of DUI, driving on a suspended license, child endangerment and failing to provide insurance.
After the girl's mother came to the scene the CHP escorted the pair home.
