This week's brief hot spell now includes a predicted high for Santa Rosa Tuesday of 103, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday could hit 97.
But in this roller coaster week of weather, predictions also include more than a 30-degree drop by Saturday, with highs getting only to about 70.
AccuWeather meteorology service Tuesday morning had revised its predicted high for Santa Rosa of 99 for the day up to 101.
The two agencies called for 97 or 96 as a high for Wednesday, either one being plenty hot.
Record high temperatures were expected to be set around the Bay Area Tuesday.
If Santa Rosa boils as high or higher than predicted, it will be more than 20 degrees over the average high of 82 degrees for this day in August.
And if it reaches 103 in downtown Santa Rosa, that will be a record. The current hottest August 24 here was 102, in 1931.
