Santa Rosa Police say a man with seven prior drunken driving convictions was at fault in a Wednesday evening crash in which he is suspected of running a red light and colliding with an oncoming car.
Hector Marin was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving yet again in the aftermath of the 6 p.m. crash at Guerneville Road and Range Avenue in west Santa Rosa, authorities said.
Police said his blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.24 percent - three times the legal limit for California drivers.
No one was injured.
Marin, 46, was northbound on Range Avenue near Coddingtown Mall when police believe he ran a red light and broadsided a westbound 2000 Land Rover driven by Santa Rosa resident Alyson Weaver.
In addition to being intoxicated, Marin was driving with a suspended license, in violation of probation on a prior DUI, and driving without a court-ordered interlock device required to check his breath for alcohol before his car ignition can start.
It later was learned Marin had seven previous DUI convictions in Sonoma, Marin and Mendocino counties, including two before 1988 and three in the 1990s, police Sgt. Rich Celli said.
He also had drunken driving convictions in May 2005 and October 2009, Celli said.
Marin was being held at the Sonoma County Jail on Thursday, with bail of $45,000, jail personnel said.
