Santa Rosa man arrested, 24 cited at overnight checkpoints

<p>Santa Rosa police arrested a man on suspicion of driving under the influence and cited 24 motorists for driving on suspended licenses or without licenses Friday night at two checkpoint operations in the city.</p><p>The 22-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested on suspicion of DUI about 11:50 p.m. at the checkpoint on Cleveland Avenue and Steele Lane, police reported.</p><p>He was later released from custody at the scene, police said.</p><p>Police also maintained a checkpoint at Guerneville Road and Ridley Avenue.</p><p>More than 800 vehicles passed through the two checkpoints between 7 p.m and 1a.m.</p><p>Two other individuals were arrested at the checkpoints, one on an outstanding warrant and another person who walked into the checkpoint and was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.</p><p>A total of 20 cars were towed.</p>
