Santa Rosa police arrested a man on suspicion of driving under the influence and cited 24 motorists for driving on suspended licenses or without licenses Friday night at two checkpoint operations in the city.

The 22-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested on suspicion of DUI about 11:50 p.m. at the checkpoint on Cleveland Avenue and Steele Lane, police reported.

He was later released from custody at the scene, police said.

Police also maintained a checkpoint at Guerneville Road and Ridley Avenue.

More than 800 vehicles passed through the two checkpoints between 7 p.m and 1a.m.

Two other individuals were arrested at the checkpoints, one on an outstanding warrant and another person who walked into the checkpoint and was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.

A total of 20 cars were towed.
