Fatal vehicle fire in Lake County

<p>Kelseyville firefighters rushed to reports of a vehicle fire along Highway 29 south of Kelseyville late Saturday and found a vehicle engulfed in flames.</p><p>A person perished in the fire.</p><p>A witness called 911 to report a single vehicle fire in the area at about 11:05 p.m., according to CHP reports.</p><p>Crews found the vehicle in the shoulder of the highway near Kelseyville Auto Wreckers.</p><p>The burning vehicle also sparked a 90-square-foot vegetation fire. Crews quickly doused both fires and found a body inside the vehicle.</p><p>“The response and reaction was very quick but it wasn't quick enough,” said Rian Burnham, an engineer and paramedic with the Kelseyville Fire Protection District.</p><p>Coroner officials were called to the scene within a half hour, according to preliminary reports.</p><p>The roadway was blocked during the investigation and reopened at about 1:20 a.m., the CHP said.</p><p>The person's identity wasn't available Sunday.</p><p>— Julie Johnson</p>
