Hot few days ahead

It won't be as hot as a week ago, when a two-day heat wave broke records around the Bay Area, but the National Weather Service wants folks to be aware of warm inland temperatures headed our way anyway.

Even with highs in the 90s, people should take precautions to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity, wear light clothing and stay out of the sun if they're sensitive to overheating, the National Weather Service said.

Parents and pet owners also need to be cautious and ensure dogs and children are not left in cars.

The forecast high in Santa Rosa is 94 for Wednesday and 92 for Thursday, compared with normal temperatures of about 82 degrees for those dates, National Weather Service forecaster Austin Cross said.

Highs elsewhere will hover in the mid-to-high 90s, forecasters said.

“It doesn't compare with our last heat wave, but it's still going to be pretty warm,” Cross said.

While temperatures dropped abruptly a week ago after two days of heat, the mercury will slide more gradually toward cooler temperatures around 80 for the holiday weekend, the National Weather Service said.
