Small fire extinguished inside Petaluma Hotel

<p>Petaluma firefighters responded to a blaze at the Petaluma Hotel on Washington Street Saturday night.</p><p>The 8:30 p.m. fire reportedly started outside of the door to a hotel room. A guest at the hotel extinguished the fire on the exterior of the door, doused the flames with water, according to fire officials.</p><p>Automatic sprinklers controlled the fire on the inside of the hotel room door, according to fire officials.</p><p>The hotel sustained water damage from the sprinkler system in the room where the fire occurred and the floor below. The total damage was estimated at $5,000.</p><p>The fire is under investigation.</p>
