A Rohnert Park police sergeant was slightly injured in the Sunday morning crash.

Sgt. Dave Welch was on patrol, driving a black and white Ford Expedition on Seed Farm Drive when the incident occured, Rohnert Park police Lt. Jeff Taylor said in a statement.

Hicks tried to turn onto Seed Farm but lost control and, after narrowly missing another car, crashed head-on into Welch.

Hicks then reversed and tried to flee,” Taylor said.

Welch was able to pin Hicks' vehicle by pushing it against the curb with the Expedition's push bars.

Hicks, 27, was “uncooperative” had to be “forcibly removed from his vehicle,” Taylor said.

Preliminary tests showed he had a blood alcohol level of 0.16. He was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI with injury felony hit and run, Taylor said.

Welch was treated at the scene for pain to his right arm, back and shoulder.
