Rohnert Park man arrested after crashing into police SUV

<p>A Rohnert Park man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after he crashed his car into a police SUV and then tried to flee, authorities said.</p><p>A Rohnert Park police sergeant was slightly injured in the Sunday morning crash.</p><p>Sgt. Dave Welch was on patrol, driving a black and white Ford Expedition on Seed Farm Drive when the incident occured, Rohnert Park police Lt. Jeff Taylor said in a statement.</p><p>As Welch approached Enterprise Drive, Joshua Hicks, 27, approached Seed Farm at a high rate of speed, Taylor said.</p><p>Hicks tried to turn onto Seed Farm but lost control and, after narrowly missing another car, crashed head-on into Welch.</p><p>Hicks then reversed and tried to flee,” Taylor said. </p><p>Welch was able to pin Hicks' vehicle by pushing it against the curb with the Expedition's push bars.</p><p>Hicks, 27, was “uncooperative” had to be “forcibly removed from his vehicle,” Taylor said.</p><p>Preliminary tests showed he had a blood alcohol level of 0.16. He was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI with injury felony hit and run, Taylor said.</p><p>Welch was treated at the scene for pain to his right arm, back and shoulder.</p>
