Two Sonoma County bicycling groups are offering a $2,000 reward in a hit-and-run accident that occurred during October's GranFondo, in which a bicyclist was severely injured when he was struck by a motorist.

CHP officers believe that a motorist intentionally ran into Anoush Zebarjadian of San Francisco, who was a participant in Levi Leipheimer's King Ridge GranFondo, a bicycle event that attracted 6,000 cyclists.

Zebarjadian was riding on Graton Road at about 4:15 p.m. when he was hit by someone driving a maroon mid-1990s Ford Explorer, a vehicle that reportedly was being driven erratically and had close calls with other cyclists.

Zebarjadian suffered serious injuries when he was struck in the back of the head by the vehicle's sideview mirror.

The Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition and VeloStreet, the nonprofit group that owns the GranFondo, are each offering $1,000 and hope to eventually raise the reward to $10,000.

People with information about the crash are asked to call CHP Detective Mike Phennicie or Sgt. Robert Mora.
