Burr Pilger Mayer absorbs Long Beach accounting firm

Burr Pilger Mayer, a San Francisco-based accounting firm with two North Bay offices, is merging with Windes & McClaughry in Long Beach.

The combined company will be the largest California-based accounting and consulting firm, with 550 employees, 11 offices and $100 million in revenue.

Burr Pilger Mayer, or BPM, has 410 employees and six offices in the Bay Area, including 45 employees at its offices in Santa Rosa and Novato.

Windes has 140 employees and four offices in Southern California.

The merger is expected to close Jan. 1. The firm will be known as BPM in Northern California and BPM Windes in Southern California.

Steve Mayer, BPM managing partner, will be the firm's chief executive officer and managing partner.
