Jurors returned guilty verdicts Thursday against a Sebastopol man who sexually assaulted a pregnant woman in front of her two young children in a daytime attack.
Odalis Solano-Rosario, 29, was convicted of confronting the woman in her driveway as she unloaded her boys, ages 3 and 6, from her car. He dragged the screaming woman behind tall grass and hedges before the attack was interrupted by neighbors.
Solano-Rosario pulled a knife on one of the neighbors and fled but was found hiding under his house the next day and arrested.
In addition to the sexual assault, he was found guilty of a kidnapping enhancement and faces a maximum 25 years to life in prison at his Dec. 29 sentencing.
The verdict came after just 45 minutes of deliberation following eight days of trial handled by prosecutors Rosanne Darling and Holly Holcomb.
The victim, who was 37 weeks pregnant during the attack, testified against Solano-Rosario.
“The speed of the verdict reflects the nature of the evidence presented,” District Attorney Jill Ravitch said. “And it certainly indicates the predatory nature of the offender. He literally snatched a woman off the street.”
