A Santa Rosa family of five was looking for a new home Wednesday after fire burned theirs.

Jason and Willow Sanders and their three young sons lost much of their belongings in the fire late Monday night at their rental home.

The local American Red Cross gave the family money for food, clothes, shoes, cold weather clothing, a storage container and a few nights at a local motel.

The family also are active members of the Christ Tabernacle church in Santa Rosa. Church officials set up a website posting to help organize donations for the family, including a bank account, said the pastor’s wife Debra Celovosky.

“They’re very dear to our church family so we’re doing all we can,” said Celovosky.

The cause of the Dunaway Drive home fire remained under investigation Wednesday, said Mark Pedroia, senior fire inspector for Santa Rosa.

Pedroia determined it started in a garden shed near the home. He was continuing to work Wednesday to identify what sparked the fire.

Flames from the burning shed melted a nearby natural gas meter, releasing gas up the side of the home. That helped quickly spread the fire into the attic of the second story.

The home is in a subdivision near Fulton Road.

The couple’s sons are 4, 8 and 10 years. The family identified clothes for the boys, as well as toys and bedding as a current primary need.

The donation fund set up through the church is at www.christtabernaclesr.org. Or donations may be made by contacting Celovsky at 707-292-2279 or debracelovsky@gmail.com.
