Letter of the Day: Shameful ruling
Julia Luna of Petaluma, front, was among opponents of the Dutra asphalt plant who gathered prior to a Board of Supervisors hearing in 2009 to express their opposition to locating the Dutra plant across the Petaluma River from Shollenberger Park.

Shameful ruling
EDITOR: I read with disbelief the news that Judge Rene Chouteau dismissed the suit against the proposed Dutra asphalt plant across the Petaluma River from Shollenberger Park (“Dutra plant can go ahead,” Thursday). The plant, approved by a single vote at the Board of Supervisors, is opposed by the city of Petaluma and a coalition of citizens who would be negatively affected, and in my opinion endangered, by the construction of this plant.
What hubris for a single person to rule on such a complicated matter and deny the citizens of Petaluma their collective day in court. This is an outrageous corruption of our judicial system. Lady Justice must be hanging her head in shame.
