A Kenwood man arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment was one of 24 DUI arrests the CHP made over the long weekend.

Philip Andrew Robb, 49, was arrested about 10 p.m. Sunday by officers who clocked him driving a Mercedes station wagon at 78 mph on Highway 101 near Shiloh Road.

Officers smelled alcohol and tested him for driving while intoxicated, said CHP Officer Jon Sloat. Four children were in the car, including a 5-year-old boy who was not in the required car seat and was wearing a seatbelt strapped across his neck.

Earlier Sunday, Javier Vilchiz was arrested on suspicion of driving while unlicensed. He was stopped on Range Avenue in Santa Rosa after making an illegal turn in his Chevrolet Blazer about 2 a.m.

Vilchiz, 24, of Santa Rosa, gave officers a Mexican identification card. Records showed a 2011 citation for driving without a license and that he was on probation, Sloat said.

After being transported to Sonoma County Jail, Vilchiz refused to get out of the patrol car and began kicking officers, Sloat said. He also faces charges of resisting an officer and violting probation.

On Monday, a Sebastopol man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his Mitsubishi van on Heather Lane in west Sonoma County, Sloat said.

A passerby found Gregory Lloyd Marquardt, 27, hanging outside the stopped vehicle, which was stuck on grass with its engine running.

Sloat said Marquardt had two DUIconvictions within the past decade.
