Chilly temps at Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building

<p>Visitors to the Sonoma County Veterans Memorial Building in Santa Rosa are finding the reception a bit chilly these days.</p><p>A problem with heating equipment has left parts of the facility at less than desirable temperatures.</p><p>“It hasn't been unbearable, but it hasn't been comfortable,” said Pete Peterka, chairman of the Veterans Memorial Building Committee.</p><p>County supervisors on Tuesday authorized spending $170,000 from the general fund to install new equipment that should restore heat to the entire facility.</p><p>The county hopes to have the that equipment up and running by the end of February, spokesman Jim Leddy said Wednesday.</p><p>Currently, only the main hall and front offices are being heated through the main system. Space heaters are being employed in other rooms.</p><p>The problems were first discovered in September when a gas leak forced the building's closure.</p><p>Leddy said no reservations have been canceled as a result of the heating problems.</p>
